Oshawa: a guidebook from memory is a community art project towards the creation of a physical 'guidebook' to our city. Unlike traditional tourist guides which highlight local attractions, this book is an invitation to experience our community through the stories of our neighbours.
It's a project that asks: what places in our city hold significance for you? What is your earliest memory of Oshawa? What memories continue to linger or haunt your street, your neighbourhood, your commute to work?
Whether you've lived here your entire life, or have simply passed through, we want to hear your stories and memories of this place! Tell us about your summer job at the OC, your late nights down at the waterfront, your memories of concerts, dances, morning commutes, or your favourite place in the city to just be.
Submissions from previous projects have been heartwarming, heartbreaking, and everything in between. Memory submissions can take any form, though text over 250 words may be edited for length. Submissions are completely anonymous. We've offered an 'email' field in case you wish to follow the progress of our project.
If you experience difficulties with the form, or have any questions, you can email us at guidebooksfrommemory@gmail.com.
